Frequently Asked Questions

 To be eligible for enrollment, all applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

• Provide proof of a U.S. high school diploma, GED, or higher degree from an accredited institution. OR Submit evaluated and translated English versions of foreign high school diplomas or higher credentials.
• Applicants who do not meet the above educational requirements may take the Ability to Benefit Test administered by the school.
• Completed Enrollment Form
• Pay the registration fee.

 The requirements for the mandatory clinical internship are as follows:

• Successful completion of all required class hours.
• Responsibility: All students must arrive at the designated facility at the scheduled date and time. Students are responsible for their own transportation and any required uniforms.
• Prerequisite: A copy of a complete annual physical with current titers is required prior to commencing the internship.

Internship Specifics: The required clinical internship involves eight (8) hours for Home Health Aide (HHA) students or thirty-five (35) hours for Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) students, to be completed in a patient care setting. Internship hours may differ from regular class times.

 At Elmont Career Center, we understand that life can sometimes throw unexpected challenges your way. However, due to the intensive nature of our programs and the importance of ensuring you receive comprehensive training, we have a strict attendance policy.

• Mandatory Attendance: Consistent attendance is crucial for your success in the program. You are expected to attend every class and be on time.
• Limited Make-up Days: Due to the fast-paced nature of the program, you are allowed to make up a maximum of one missed classroom day.
• Mandatory Clinicals: Clinicals are a mandatory component of the program and provide essential hands-on experience. Only one clinical day can be made up, and it must be on the day designated by the instructor.
• Make-up Fees: If you miss more than the allowed class or clinical time, you will be required to attend a pre-assigned make-up day at an additional cost of $100.00. This fee covers the instructor's time and ensures that you receive the necessary training to stay on track.
• Make-up Time Restrictions: All make-up time must be completed within the approved operating hours of Elmont Career Center.
• Tardiness and Early Departures: Excessive tardiness or leaving class early disrupts the learning environment and will not be tolerated. After two or more instances of tardiness, you will be placed on probation and may be subject to termination from the program.

We understand that emergencies and unforeseen circumstances can arise. If you know you will be late or absent, please notify the school at least 30 minutes prior to the start of class.

Programs that are 6 or less weeks in duration

• A student who cancels within 7 days of signing the enrollment agreement but before instruction begins receives all monies returned with the exception of the non-refundable registration fee.
• Thereafter, a student will be liable for the non-refundable registration fee plus the cost of any textbooks or supplies accepted plus tuition liability as of the student's last date of physical attendance. Tuition liability is determined by the percentage of the program offered to the student.
• If termination occurs school may keep
  0 - 15% of the program 0%
  16 - 30% of the program 25%
  31 - 45% of the program 50%
  46 - 60% of the program 75%
  After 60% of the program 100%
• The student refund may be more than that stated above if the accrediting agency refund policy results in a greater refund.

● Name tag identification is to be worn every day. Name tag identification will be provided by Elmont Career Center LLC .

● Students must wear school issued scrubs during class, lab and clinical rotations.

● Students must wear all white, closed toed nursing shoes while in  scrubs/uniform.

● Students must maintain adequate personal hygiene, socks and shoes at all times in the classroom, lab and clinical. The uniform must be clean, neat and crisp.

● Your undergarments should not be visible underneath your uniform.

● Hair should be neat, clean, and tied up.

● Fragrance should not be worn when working around patients/residents. People may have allergic reactions or may suffer with respiratory problems causing difficulty breathing.

● Come prepared with a second-hand watch, a small notebook, and a pen.

● Nails are to be kept short to prevent client/resident injury.
